2. Mandatory Physical Torque & Clearance Verification
Tire sidewall dimensions and tire mold profiles vary between tire manufacturers, even within identical nominal tire sizes (e.g. 35x12.50R20). Users must physically verify:
- Minimum 0.5-inch dynamic clearance at full steering lock in both directions.
- Proper wheel lug nut torque using a calibrated click-type torque wrench (140 lb-ft for Sierra 1500; 165 lb-ft for 2500HD/3500HD).
- Re-torque wheel lugs after 50 and 500 miles of driving on newly installed wheels.
- Tire load inflation pressures conforming to Tire and Rim Association (TRA) engineering load curves.
